Prof. Dr. Reimund Seidelmann

Dr. Reimund Seidelmann was Professor for International Relations and Foreign Policy at the Institute of Political Science, Justus-Liebig-Universiyt Giessen/Germany and Professor for Political Science at the Institute for European Studies (IEE), Free University Brussels/Belgium. In addition, he is Honorary Professor for International Politics, Renmin University Beijing/PRC and Honorary Professor Universitas Katolik Parahyangan Bandung/Indonesien. He is teaching in Universities such as University of Malaya, Indonesian Defence University, Institute of European Studies Macao, and Institute of European Studies Free University of Brussels. Major positions in the past/present have been European Chairman of the Academic Board EU-CHINA EUROPEAN STUDIES PROGRAMME (2004-2008),Coordinator of the EU-NESCA RESEARCH DIALOGUE project (2006-2008/continued) (6th FP of the European Commission). In Central Asian issues he was/is director of his 3rd research and cooperation project “GERMANY, THE EU, AND CENTRAL ASIA” (2007-2009)and of the 4th Central Asian research and cooperation project “CENTRAL ASIA AND XINJIANG: GOVERNANCE, NEIGHBORHOOD POLICIES, AND REGIONALISATION IN WIDER CENTRAL ASIA”(2009-2011) both funded by Volkswagen-Foundation. In addition he is director of the cooperation and professionalisation programme “GOOD GOVERNANCE, GOOD REGIONAL COOPERATION, AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SECURITY SECTOR IN INDONESIA”(2006-2010) funded by the German Foreign Ministry.

He works on International Relations theory, European foreign and security policies, peace- and conflict studies, and transformation studies. In addition, he worked as consultant for political bodies and industries.
